Welcome to the City of Ducktown online information area. We are located in Polk County in the southeast corner of Tennessee.

Our population is approximately 450 residents and our town boundaries cover 1.9 square miles. The town was called Cawana by the Cherokee Indians and then changed to Hiwassee Town in the early 1800’s. It was incorporated as the City of Ducktown on November 2, 1951.

Ducktown is a wonderful little community with semi-annual celebrations, car shows, homecomings as well as a quiet lifestyle.

We are home to the Ocoee River, one of the finest whitewater recreation areas in the eastern United States. We are also a historic Copper mining area and original homeplace of the Cherokee Indian nation.

Browse through this web site to find out about our city staff and services. We have an events page to bring you quickly up to date on what’s on the calendar in regards to meetings and festivities.

You might want to visit one of our other web sites: www.DucktownMainstreet.com to get a feel for our fun times and events.

We hope to see you soon!
